Press Release

Due to weather, the paving schedule for Nine Mile Canyon has  once again changed. Crews will be paving in the canyon this week through Friday from mile post 42 down to the end of the pavement in Cottonwood Canyon.

The week of Sept. 1, the paving crew will be working on another project and no work will be done in the canyon.

Nielson Construction crews will return the week of Sept. 8 to begin laying the second and last lift known as the SMA layer. They will pull back from Cottonwood and begin at the Soldier Creek Mine. It is estimated that this final lift of the SMA placement will take approximately three weeks to complete.

There will be flagger operations controlling traffic at the laydown site. Please expect 30 – 45 minute delays each direction. Also, watch for haul trucks, equipment and workers in both directions while traveling the canyon.
