Nielson Construction has been engaged in other projects and weather has delayed their progress on the Nine Mile Canyon paving project.
They plan to be back in the canyon by Thursday, Sept. 11.
At that time, they will pull back their equipment to the Soldier Creek Mine and begin laying the second and final lift, the SMA material.
Through this final portion of the project, the paving crew will be followed by a shouldering crew and then a signage crew.
With good weather conditions, the SMA paving and the other operations should be completed by the end of this month.
When construction resumes, there will be flagger operations controlling traffic and travelers should expect the same delays each direction. It is likely the other crews will also have flaggers on the road so be aware of the trucks and additional equipment and please drive with caution.
