No. 12 Lady Eagles Sweep Colorado Northwestern on Sophomore Day *Photo Gallery*

The 12th ranked USU Eastern women’s volleyball team again entertained the home crowd on Saturday in its final home game of the season. With scores of 25-12, 25-12 and 25-18, the Lady Eagles swept the Trojans for the second time this season and remain in second place in Region 18 standings in the Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC).

Every one of the Eagle starters impacted the game and contributed to the dominating win. Right side hitter Sunny Perry had 13 kills, four blocks and 12 digs in the game. Outside hitter Kiara Richardson also had 13 kills with two blocks and nine digs. The team’s middle blockers couldn’t be stopped with Kahea Nihipali’s six kills and eight blocks. Alyssa Simmons found the 10-foot line in the game adding seven kills and two blocks. Setter Ashlee McUne moved the offense with 33 assists while libero Avery Best covered the court on defense with 16 digs.

Sophomore’s Tiffany SchwendimanKiara Richardson and Breanne Bitter were honored on the court before their last home game of the season.

“It’s so hard to see these young ladies move on from our family and welcome the next adventures that await them. They have each been such an important part of the success of our program. They are not only amazing athletes but they are some of the most kind, loving and strong young ladies that I have met. I wish them the best of luck in their future and look forward to celebrating in their other life accomplishments that they have ahead of them,” said head coach Danielle Jensen.

The Lady Eagles will finish up their regular season on the road against the fifth ranked Snow College Badgers Thursday night at 7 p.m.  From Ephraim, they will travel to Henderson, Nev. on Saturday to take on the Southern Nevada Coyotes at 1 p.m. PST.
