NOTICE OF ELECTION 2020 REGULAR GENERAL ELECTION

I, Seth Marsing, County Clerk-Auditor of Carbon County, State of Utah, in accordance with Utah Code Section 20A-5-101(2) do hereby give notice of offices for which candidates are to be elected and ballot propositions qualified for the ballot as of this date at the upcoming General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.

1. FEDERAL
a. U.S. President and Vice President. These positions will be elected for a four (4) term.

b. U.S. House of Representatives. One (1) Representative for a two (2) year term in each of the following U.S. Congressional Districts:
i. Third District, which consists of Carbon, Emery, Grand, part of Salt Lake, San Juan, part of Utah, and Wasatch Counties.

2. STATE
a. State Executive. The following positions will be elected for a four (4) year term:
i. Attorney General.
ii. Governor.
iii. Lieutenant Governor.
iv. State Auditor.
v. State Treasurer.

b. State House of Representatives. One (1) member for a four (4) year term from each of the following state senate districts:
i. District Twenty-seven (27) located in Carbon, Emery, Grand, San Juan, Utah and Wasatch Counties.

c. Local Boards of Education. One (1) member for a four (4) year term from the following local school districts: District No. 1, District No. 2 and District No. 3; District 1 to include Scofield, Pleasant Valley, East Helper, West Helper and Spring Glen. District 2 to include Fairgrounds, South County, Carbonville, Westwood, and Miller Creek.  District 3 to include East Price, South Price and Central Price.

3. JUDICIAL
a. Supreme Court. There will be a retention election for one (1) Supreme Court Judge, provided that the incumbent whose term is expiring files during the filing period.
b. Court of Appeals. There will be a retention election for six (6) Court of Appeals Judges, provided that the incumbent(s) whose term is expiring files during the filing period.
c. Juvenile Court. Seventh District.Two (2) Judges in the Seventh Judicial District, which consists of Carbon, Emery, Grand and San Juan Counties.
d. Justice Court. Any Justice Court judge whose term is expiring shall be subject to an unopposed retention election in the county or counties in which the court to which the judge is appointed is located.

4. COUNTY
One (1) County Commissioner for a term of four (4) years
One (1) County Assessor for a term of four (4) years
One (1) County Recorder for a term of four (4) years
One (1) County Treasurer for a term of four (4) years

The Declaration of Candidacy filing period for qualified political party candidates and school board candidates begins on Friday, March 13, 2020 and ends at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2020.

The Declaration of Candidacy filing period for justices and judges of a court of record begins Wednesday, July 1, 2020 and ends at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2020.

The Declaration of Intent to Gather Signatures period begins on Thursday, January 2, 2020 and ends at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2020.

Qualified political party candidates must submit nomination petition signatures no later than 14 days before the day on which the qualified political party holds its convention to select candidates for the elective office.

Declarations of Candidacy to be submitted to the County Clerk must be done at the office of the Carbon County Clerk, County Administrative Building, 751 E. 100 N., Price, Utah. National and State offices that are required to file at the office of the Lieutenant Governor may do so at the State Capital Building, Salt Lake City, Utah, on the same dates specified in this notice.
