Ron Patterson, Carbon County’s Utah State University Extension Agent, will judge this year’s animal expo/4-H competition at the county fair this weekend. The judging will actually occur Wednesday, but items and animals will be on display through 4 p.m. Saturday.

Patterson said there are always the regulars, rabbits, chickens, goats,В turkeys, ducks, geese, among other larger animals, but this year there will be a new addition.

“This year I have had a person who has several exotic animals request pen space so that ought to add some excitement to the expo,” he said.

The expo is open to both 4-H and non-4-H classes in all age groups. Judges encourage informational displays so visitors may learn more about the animals or projects.

“This show is just to have community people showcase some of the animals they have in their care,” Patterson said.

There will also be a small showmanship contest Saturday morning for rabbits (10 a.m.) and goats (11 a.m.).

Entries will be accepted Tuesday from 9:30-3 p.m. at the fairgrounds.
