Carbon County Commissioners listened to various reports Wednesday, including one regarding the oil spill cleanup in Willow Creek Canyon.

Representatives said the clean up bill was approaching $1 million. Fortunately, the insurance company covering the tanker that spilled the oil will reimburse Carbon County for the costs.

The project should be up to EPA standards by Friday, weather permitting.

Commissioner John Jones said he was concerned that the temporary dams built to help with the clean up could break during bad weather.

Notes:

  • Blue Castle Holdings representatives gave a presentation and answered questions about the nuclear power plan planned for Green River.
  • Commissioners refunded approximately $900 in property taxes collected over five years to the Scofield Mountain Home Recreation Association because the homeowner’s association was exempt from property taxes.
  • Commissioners opened sealed bids for a new track dozer for County road and landfill operations.

A recording of the meeting will be broadcast on ETV Channel 10.
