Olson Shines in Carbon Defeat


Running back Nate Olson finished with 100 yards rushing and another 245 as a kick returner in the Carbon Dinos’ 62-15 defeat at Ben Lomond Friday.

Olson returned a kick 98 yards to paydirt in the first quarter for the first score in the game for Carbon. The score cut Ben Lomond’s end of first quarter lead to just seven, 14-7. Olson gained his 100 yards on just 18 carries. He also added a two-point conversion in the fourth.=

The Scots then added 42 unanswered points spanning the second and third quarters to take the 56-7 lead into the fourth quarter.

Quarterback Noah Jones then hooked up with wide receiver Derek Hillam for a 29-yard touchdown in the fourth, wrapping up the scoring for the Dinos. Hillam nabbed three passes for 56 yards, including his first ever touchdown. Jones finished the game 3-10 for 56 yards, with two interceptions.

Carbon (0-2, 0-0 3A North) will be on the road once again this Friday, making the trip to St. George for a matchup with Snow Canyon (0-2, 0-0 3AA South). The game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 6 at 7 p.m.
