The Fierce Fighting Championships (FFC) will be taking place in Price at the Tuscan Event Center on Saturday.

During the MMA event, fighter Matt Betzold will compete. Betzold trained at the famous Team Alpha Male gym with Urijah Faber and other UFC fighters.

Betzold lost his leg when he was very young because of a poisoned piece of candy. This incident nearly took Betzold’s life. Since then, Betzold has become a great fighter, accomplished grappler and all around good-guy to all who know him.

Betzold won a gold medal in grappling for Team USA in the FILA Pankration Championships and is a veteran professional MMA fighter. Currently, Betzold is 5-2 in his weight class. He also has his eyes set on becoming a world champion.

Betzold has become an inspiration to people all over the world. Home Box Office network (HBO) recently produced a documentary of his story and it is due to be released around the time that the fight will take place.

Although he is a very capable fighter, he has had problems securing his place in fights due to his disability.

“Matt is an inspiration to so many people around the world and to myself,” stated president and owner of the FFC, Cody Bunderson. “People do not realize the caliber of fighter they are dealing with when looking at Betzold.”

The event that Betzold will be competing in has been deemed “Awakening.” Tickets can be purchased at Market Express locations in Price, from a fighter on the card, at the door or by calling (435) 630-0848.
