Emery’s volleyball team began its 2019 season at Manti with a back and forth match on Thursday.
The first set was decided by a tiebreaker after the Lady Spartan were able to go up by two 29-27 for the victory. The second set was close as well, but Emery prevailed 25-23 to go up 2-0. The Lady Spartans closed the door in the third set 25-20 for the 3-0 victory.
Head coach Kris Bell was glad to come away with a win. “Being the first game of the season, I think we had a lot of excitement and nerves going on at the same time,” said Bell. “They played hard and never gave up.”
Emery will host its home opener on Tuesday versus Altamont.
