Tracy Addley, Orangeville Fire Chief, began his firefighting as a teenager in Emery in 1977. Three years later, he joined the fire department in Orangeville, where has been the fire chief for 35 years. Now, Addley is resigning as the chief so he can enter the race for city council in Orangeville. He will remain on the firefighting squad and also as a driver for the EMTs.

When recalling his years as the chief, Addley is grateful to his wife, Kathy, and their family for the sacrifices of time and few vacations so he could serve. Addley said that it has been an honor to serve in Orangeville as the chief and he is grateful for those who have served those many years with him.

Addley commented that it seems much harder to enlist firemen now than it used to be. Some of the fires that stand out in his memory are the trailer fire in Joe’s Valley where a little boy lost his life, the tanker fire at Tracy’s Jeff’s Conoco, and fire at Thompson’s Building in Castle Dale.
