While free food was certainly a draw to USU Eastern’s student center on Wednesday evening, a ribbon cutting ceremony also held appeal for those in attendance.
The ceremony served to highlight the new dining services being offered. Headed by Emily Bradley, USUE’s Coordinator of Campus Events, students, faculty and members of the community can now enjoy a renovated dining experience at the student center.
The new dining arena revolves around choice as diners can enjoy a food court experience with cuisine from around the world.
“Based on information that we got from the students, we decided to turn the whole area into a food court instead of a cafeteria, which gives them more options,” Bradley said.
At the Chef’s Corner, diners will find all-you-can-eat fare that includes meat, starch, vegetables, salad, bread and dessert. Next door at the Aggie’s Grill, smoothies, hamburgers, wings, onion rings and the iconic Aggie Ice Cream are served.
Continuing through the dining hall, the Bento Bar serves made-to-order sautéed dishes featuring rice, eggrolls and fortune cookies. At Fresh Mex, made-to-order tacos, burritos, quesadillas and nachos grace the menu. Finally, the Market Deli offers croissants, bagels, wraps, fresh-baked cookies, chips and salads for diners.
The new dining hall has be gratefully accepted by students and staff as a quick option between classes and other obligations. Orders can be placed on site or even made to go. And while Eagles are happily taking advantage of the options, the community is welcome to visit the cafeteria for a meal as well.
Service begins at 7 a.m. and wraps up at 9 p.m. Monday through Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, diners can enjoy offerings from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
