The Pinnacle girl’s cross-country team took first place honors at the Titan XC invitational meet Wednesday in Orem.
Racing against three other institutions, the Lady Panthers were able to fly by Oakley High School by 15 points (21 to 36).
Senior Misty Bingham was the first Pinnacle runner to cross the finish line, placing second overall with a time of 25:16.1, just five seconds off the leader. Freshman Savana Dart finished just four seconds behind Bingham in third place. Dallanie Paletta (8), Nikki Borba (10), Kaeley Taylor (12), Alexus Salazar (14), Kiara Badback (17) and Ruby Maclean (18) also participated in the race.
Six runners from the boy’s team ran to a third place finish at the meet.
Sophomore Kaden Daughters came in first for Pinnacle, and fourth overall, with a time of 20:39.7. Juniors Huntter Sherman and James Sanchez both placed in the top ten, nabbing sixth and eighth place, respectively. Valentin Acosta (20), Levi Rutherford (28) and Abigael Acosta (29) also ran for the team. The Panthers finished behind Westridge Academy and Telos Academy.
Pinnacle will gear up for its region meet on Wednesday. The Panthers will take on other runners from Monticello, Green River, Whitehorse, Monument Valley and Navajo Mountain. The event will take place in Monticello at Lloyd’s Lake.
