The Pinnacle Panthers got on the winning side of life on Tuesday night with a 64-52 victory over West Ridge Academy.Pinnacle took the lead early and never let it go. They used an aggressive defense to generate some offensive points and keep West Ridge on their heels. The team held the two big scorers for West Ridge well under their average.
Cody Dean Sanchez put up huge numbers with 22 points and Levi Rutherford added 15 on the Panther offense.
Coach Cameron Gardner was very pleased with how his team performed on the court Tuesday. On Saturday, he was a little disheartened that the second half energy was not near as intense as it should have been. Against West Ridge on Tuesday, the team put good effort into all four quarters to keep their opponent at bay.
Even though the Panthers missed some easy layups and racked up a few too many fouls, giving West Ridge a chance to stay in the game, Coach Gardner was pleased with the performance of his team.
Gardner stated he was really proud of the effort, energy and heart he is seeing from the boys in early season action.
The Panthers travel to Wendover on Thursday and are back home on Tuesday, Dec. 16 to play Dugway.
