Active Re-Entry invited members of the community to take part in its annual Run, Walk & Roll For Independence 5K on Saturday.

The 5K, in its 14th year, is a unique event that takes place each September. Participation in the event is free, with donations happily accepted, and is inclusive all participants, including four-legged friends.

Active Re-Entry covers about 27,000 square miles and has around 17 different programs, director Nancy Bentley shared. The annual 5K helps raise funds for these programs, including assistive technology such as hand-rails, ramps and other items that will contribute to helping those with disabilities. Funds are donated each year by participants, businesses and organizations throughout the community.
