Phone Scam Targets Price Residents

A phone scam targeting local residents seems to be sweeping the area this weekend. According to several Price residents, they have received a phone call by an unknown caller who claims that a family member has been in an auto accident and is either seriously injured and/or being held hostage by an unknown party. The caller then asks for ransom money and requests a wire transfer immediately.

According to one scam recipient, the entire phone call seemed fishy. When the scam artist was questioned about the situation, the caller quickly hung up the phone.

Local police have been notified of the scam and are currently looking into the matter. Anyone who receives a similar call should contact authorities. If possible, take note of the phone number used to make the scam phone call and report this to law enforcement as well.
