Despite taking a big loss down in Monticello two weeks ago, the Pinnacle boys came out of the gate on fire Friday night. They ended up losing 72-42, but that was after rocking the Buckaroos in the first quarter of play.

The Panthers scored the first points and led 19-16 at the end of the first before trailing by only eight at the half. The game turned in the second half as Monticello turned on the jets and ran away with the contest.

Coach Cameron Gardner said he was proud of how hard the boys played. “They played much better here than they did down in Monticello,” he said. “They came out and played with a lot of energy and heart. We have talked that they need to play hard every game and they are starting to show that they are taking pride in that.”

Levi Rutherford scored 14 to lead the Panther’s offense. Wyatt Howard had a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.
