The Pinnacle Panthers needed a win Thursday night against Whitehorse to secure the second seed out of Region 19 for the upcoming 1A Playoffs next week. Unfortunately, Whitehorse used a big fourth quarter to complete the comeback to force a play-in game on Saturday for the overall second seed.

Nine seniors were honored before the game. Bodie Barker, Dalton Bradley, Noah Mascarenas, Eric May, Brandon Otto, Jorrdon Richardson, Levi Rutherford, Skylar Graves and Jonathon Giddings played in their final home games of their high school careers.

Rutherford led the Panthers with 16 points, his largest offensive output since a Jan. 8 game against Green River, in which he poured in 21. Mascarenas pitched in nine and Giddings added six and six rebounds.

Leading 34-30 going into the fourth, Pinnacle’s lead evaporated after a 14-6 quarter from Whitehorse.

The play-in game between Pinnacle and Whitehorse will commence at 2 p.m. at Moab Junior High School.
