Pinnacle’s Growing Pains

The Panthers traveled to face the Wendover Wildcats on Wednesday. Pinnacle did not have their wits about them in the early going and found themselves in a big hole.

“We came off to a slow start and didn’t get things going until halfway through the second quarter,” Head Coach Eric Hansen said. “Wendover is a very good and athletic team. We came out flat-footed and had to play catch up the entire game.”

Turnovers plagued the Panthers again as they gave up the ball 28 times in the game. However, they were able to get some boards as they recorded 31 rebounds. Jaxson Carlisle and Michael Vigil had five rebounds each while Landen Hardy lead the team with 11 points.

The final score was 79-38 as the Panthers fell to an 0-2 record. Pinnacle is showing some early growing pains with their lack of experience in the preseason. Despite the recent struggles, Hansen not only remains optimistic but he expects to see a huge turnaround.

“I did see many things defensively that made me happy and the boys are starting to buy into the program,” he said. “Keep an eye on us. We will make a boom in our regular season.”

Pinnacle’s next game is at home when they host Merit on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
