Authorities responded to the Hidden Splendor air strip in Emery County after a plane crashed during takeoff on Saturday afternoon.
The call came to the Emery County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center at 1:36 p.m. reporting that a Cessna 182 airplane had crashed during takeoff at the air strip located in the San Rafael Desert. According to the sheriff’s office, the plane caught a crosswind as it was taking off, carrying it off the air strip. The plane’s wing was clipped, throwing it over the edge of a deep wash.
Two men, ages 55 and 60, from Scottsdale, Ariz. were aboard the plane. Neither were injured in the accident.
The Emery County Sheriff’s Office and Emery County Search and Rescue personnel responded to the accident. According to the sheriff’s office, the Federal Aviation Administration has been notified and will investigate the incident.
