Millsite State Park will be ready for camping in April. Construction crews are busy raising the campsites that are affected by the rehabilitation of the dam. Electricity will also be installed to 10 new sites, making it available at all 20 camping spots this year.
The improved boat ramp will be ready by the time the water in the reservoir is high enough to launch a boat, typically near the end of May. The lower existing toilets will be moved to higher ground. The roadways are also being refinished and resurfaced. The tables and pavilions are being replaced or updated, making a new and improved state park.
Nielson Construction is doing the renovation on the campground. The ice fishing tournament to be hosted at Millsite, scheduled for Feb. 3, is pending due to weather conditions and construction. Reportedly, those who are currently ice fishing are having much success.
