Errors continue to plague the Price American Legion baseball team. A pair of losses Wednesday afternoon at home against Herriman left Price down, but definitely not out.
Despite a current loosing streak, players are defining the meaning of teamwork. Words of encouragement can be heard throughout the dugout during each game. Coach Willie Ellington explained that times like these are when teams need to pull together.
“Players need to stay strong and not focus on the negative,” the coach explained. “We have some good players on this team and I want to see them finish this season with their heads held high.”
The coach also explained that a loss to Helper several weeks ago was a disappointment for the team which seemed to set them back. This weekend Ellington hopes that an all wood bat tournament in Colorado builds confidence and sets Price back on track. “We just need to play ball and not worry about wins and losses,” Ellington stated. “We did really well at a tournament in Wyoming earlier this year. I hope that this weekend turns out just as well.”
Price will compete in the Rangley Invitational July 12-14.
