After five months of construction, the 100 North bridge in Price reopened on Thursday morning.
Crews began work on the bridge in mid-March, a project that involved a full-deck rehabilitation. The project was overseen by the Utah Department of Transportation and was originally projected to take 125 days to complete. Some set backs, such as awaiting approval to begin construction above the railroad, put the construction slightly behind schedule.
The construction began by installing a false deck to catch debris. Crews then removed existing asphalt overlay and the concrete deck to expose the original steel beams. The project continued as crews placed new partial-depth precast panels and then the new concrete deck, sidewalk and parapet walls. Finally, the polymer overlay, fencing and striping were completed.
Originally, the project was planned to be complete before the start of the new school year, putting it slightly behind schedule.
