Representatives from the Carbon High rodeo team met with Price City Council members at a meeting on Wednesday. The club was seeking sponsorship from the city for the upcoming Carbon High rodeo.
Zach Jensen, president of the rodeo club, along with his sister Morgan approached council members regarding the possible sponsorship. According to Zach, the rodeo, which takes place on April 10, brings in over 400 rodeo participants each year. The following day, Castle Dale will welcome the competitors to its arena.
The majority of these participants bring friends and family with them that stay in local hotels, eat at local restaurants and visit local stores, bringing a large amount of funds to the local economy. Zach explained that that alone is enough to count the rodeo as a success to the local area.
“I just think they have a proven track record,” council member Kathy Hanna-Smith commented about the rodeo team. “They’ve done a nice job for years, bringing in lots of people from outside of the area to accomplish what we want to have done by having tourists come to the area. So, I appreciate what you are doing.”
The council agreed to sponsor the rodeo team in the amount of $500 to help make this year’s rodeo a success.
