At Price City Council meeting last week, the council highlighted recent service projects done by local schools and sports teams.
Lighthouse High School students received a certificate for their efforts in a service project to help reduce the fire risk along the Price River. They also earned a second certificate for helping provide sandbags to the community for flood assistance.
Another group given certificates and highlighted by the council were some of the sports teams at USU Eastern. The women’s softball, men’s baseball, women’s soccer, men’s soccer and men’s basketball teams all received a certificate for volunteering to help fill sandbags on Oct. 5.
The council also gave a certificate of achievement to the USU Eastern volleyball team. They “proudly recognize them for an outstanding win over the fourth ranked team in the nation.” The council also recognized the players of the week, Mackenzie Carter and Sarah Mafi.
