The Price City Council was in a generous mood on Aug. 27 as they awarded an educational scholarship and approved several contributions made by the International Days Golf Tournament committee.

Elizabeth Piccolo appeared before the city council at the regularly scheduled meeting to explain why she would be the perfect recipient of an educational scholarship. She indicated that through cosmetology, she feels that she can touch the lives of many in the local area.

Piccolo explained that she has already been involved in several charity events through cosmetology and she hopes to continue helping others once her education is complete.

Council members awarded Piccolo a $650 scholarship, which was presented to her by her father, Price City Mayor Joe Piccolo.

The International Days Golf Tournament was conducted in July, earning approximately $4,700 for local organizations and programs. According to golf tournament committee member Nick Tatton, it was determined that funds go to the following:

• Price City International Days fireworks display
• Price City local scholarship program
• Carbon County Food Bank
• Carbon County Children’s Justice Center
• Cancer treatment travel assistance
• Miner’s Memorial project
• Price Kiwanis Club Kids Day
• Carbon High boys and girls golf teams

City council members agreed that these entities would all benefit from the donation and funds were awarded at the council meeting.
