Price City Press Release

Winter has brought us some much needed snow! We would like to remind residents about our snow removal procedures and also our city ordinances dealing with winter snow storms.

WHEN WILL MY CITY STREET BE PLOWED?
When a snow storm occurs, our streets department is immediately mobilized to begin clearing our city streets in a safe, organized and efficient manner. We approach the process using a priority-based system. The snow plows begin on our main collector roads and particularly those surrounding our public safety and other key public facilities, such as the fire department, police department, hospital, public schools, etc. Once those areas have been cleared, we move to the other main collector roads such as Main Street, 100 South, 300 East, 800 North, Cedar Hills Drive, etc. Following the main collector roads, we move to the remaining residential and commercial areas throughout the city. Depending on the magnitude of the storm, it may take us more than a day to get to the city street in front of your house unless you happen to live along one of the collector roads.

NO PARKING ON CITY STREETS FOLLOWING SNOW STORMS
Per city ordinance, it is unlawful for any person to park or leave unattended any vehicle on city streets for a period of 24 hours following a snow storm. This period of time is needed for our streets department to plow the streets safely and efficiently. If the city snow plows have not plowed a city street within the first 24 hours, we ask that citizens refrain from parking on that street until it has been plowed.

SNOW PLACEMENT & SIDEWALK SHOVELING – OWNERS RESPONSIBILITY
It is important that citizens and business owners moving snow on or adjacent to their properties understand the city ordinances regulating where they can place the snow from their properties.
– DO NOT PUSH OR PILE THE SNOW INTO THE STREET AS IT POSES POTENTIAL HAZARDS FOR TRAFFIC
– Snow should be kept as much as possible on the owner’s property and not placed on your neighbor’s property without permission or in the street
– Sidewalks adjacent to your property or residence should be cleared within 24 hours of a snow storm to allow for safe passage of pedestrians
– Residents or business owners who have questions or concerns can call the Price City Public Works Department at (435) 637-5010.

Thank you for your cooperation!
