Price City Public Works Director Gary Sonntag presented city worker Scott Olsen with a road master certificate during the Price City Council meeting on Wednesday evening. Sonntag explained to the council that Olsen is one of only four people in the state that has earned the distinction of road master through the road scholar program.
Olsen obtained the degree through Utah LTAP, which offers advanced training to transportation professionals across the state. Through the road scholar program, Olsen learned extensively about road paving, materials and storm drain inspection.
“I would like to thank the mayor, the council and Gary (Sonntag) for the opportunity to get training that will not only benefit myself, but will benefit our city,” Olsen acknowledged.
Also during the meeting, council members awarded a $650 scholarship to USU Eastern student Derek Young. The educational scholarship will be used to purchase books and supplies this upcoming school year.
