After an anonymous tip made to the Price City Police Department, local authorities along with Carbon County SWAT arrested two suspects involved in illegal marijuana distribution at Woodside Apartments.

At 5 p.m. on January 12, members of the Carbon Metro Drug Task Force, Carbon County Sheriff’s Department SWAT, and Price City Police Department, served a drug related search warrant at Woodside Apartments #37, 635 E. 300 S. in Price.

“We believe the activity to have been taking place for several months before the anonymous call was made to our office,” said Captain Bill Barnes.

After developing investigative leads, Drug Task Force Agents were able to develop enough probable cause to result in the issuance of the search warrant from the 7th District Judicial Court.

“There is a variety of different information the task force must gather determining probable cause before a search warrant may be issued,” Barnes said.В Barnes was reluctant to release any further details regarding what information must be obtained to preserve inside intelligence of localВ authorities.

Barnes continued by thanking the SWAT team for its assistance in the operation. “We rely heavily on the SWAT team and they do an amazing job to surprise the suspects so there is usually little resistance, and also to reduce risk of injury to the suspects or officers involved.”

During the search, agents seized approximately four pounds of marijuana, numerous items of marijuana paraphernalia, and about $5000 cash. Barnes reported the street value of the marijuana to be as high as $20,480, if the product was distributed in eight-ounce amounts, at $40 per baggie.

Forty-five-year-old Michael Anthony Greathouse has been arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute in a drug free zone, and possession of paraphernalia in a drug free zone. Twenty-nine-year-old Tiffany J. Phillips has also been arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute in a drug free zone.

“Our hope is to improve our community, and we need the assistance of our residents,” Barnes said. “We encourage citizens to call in suspicious activity to our anonymous TIPS hotline. There have been many situations where an anonymous tip has assisted us in establishing probably cause to issue a warrant.”
