Two Price City police officers received the Medal of Meritorious Service at the Price City Council meeting on Wednesday evening.
Officer Randy Salyer and officer Nick Parker responded to a call to the home of Steven Bridge on Jan. 6. After Bridge woke up and began to recognize the signs of a heart attack, he advised his wife, Tessa, to call 911.
When officers Salyer and Parker arrived on scene, they began to perform CPR and use an AED to revive Bridge. Bridge was transported to Castleview Hospital and survived.
“If it wasn’t for these two officers, I wouldn’t be here today,” said Bridge. “Thanks to their quick actions and the help from EMS and Castleview Hopsital, I’m here to talk about it.”
Price City Police Chief Kevin Drolc awarded officers Salyer and Parker with the Medal of Meritorious Service, a medal presented to officers who save a life and responded well to the situation.
“This is a unique opportunity and lives were saved,” Drolc said. “This is a daily thing for what these guys do and acted selflessly in saving a life.”
Officers Salyer and Parker received a standing ovation and were congratulated by Mayor Mike Kourianous and Price City Council members.
“We are honored to have such an amazing and trained police task force,” council member Terri Willis said. “You’re out there doing what you need to be doing and that speaks highly to Chief Drolc and the whole police force.”
