To kick off Price City’s 2012 International Days celebration on Thursday, Price City representatives placed a time capsule along the new Price River Trail and a new cornerstone at Price City Office building on Main Street.
Mayor Joe Piccolo, Price City Councilmen, and Gary Sonntag, Price City Public Works Director, gathered with members from the community at the new trail and buried the time capsule filled with current items to be opened in the year 2037. An aerial view of Price City, a $100 Zion’s Bank account to be given to the first baby born in the release year, among other documents, were included in the capsule. It was then sealed following pictures with community members.
Representatives then made the short trip to the Price City Office Building on Main Street to place a new cornerstone next to the original from 1938.
“This is one of those projects that makes working for Price fun,” Sonntag said. “It’s an opportunity to represent not only ourselves, but those who have gone before and hopefully it will mean something to the future.”
Sonntag also mentioned the building is “probably the oldest functioning building that the city still uses.”
