The Price City Business Improvement District Committee met in September and October in preparation for the next Music Meals and Mingle on Main event that is scheduled for Nov. 7.
The last event was held on Sept. 12 and was themed as a barbecue battle. It was a huge success with people coming to taste the cooking of the entrants. The winner was Chad Jones for his spicy chicken as his food was selected the best by public vote. As with past events, there were also food trucks, activities for children and adults situated throughout the downtown area.
With a tailgating sports theme, the next event will feature local schools clubs, athletics and activity groups who will mingle with the crowd.
Once again, Price City’s Main Street will be filled with food trucks of every kind. Also, as entertainment for the kids, there will be the bounce castle and a kids’ corner with things to do along with a train that the youngsters can ride.
Adult events will be pretty serious, as Bookcliff Sales will be having a cornhole tournament in their parking lot with a custom made cornhole set valued at $300 as the main prize. The game will be overseen by Carbon County Recreation.
Businesses along Main Street will be open during the event for those who attend and want to browse the shops.
The fun will begin at 5 p.m. Main Street will be shut down to any through traffic during the event.
The MMM events will be taking place every other month into next year. On Jan. 9, a Winterfest event will take place. In March of next year, the city is planning an event called Carbon-Con, where people can dress up in their favorite science fiction, comic or fantasy costumes. Details for both these events will be forthcoming.
The Business Improvement District Committee was formed in 2018 to find ways to improve business, particularly downtown, in Price. Subcommittees made up of various business leaders, government officials and others have been formed. Those subcommittees consist of the Ambassadors, Activities and Events Committee (which has been gathering information, informing business owners of what is going on and organizing events for the downtown area), the budget committee (which determines the costs of what may be done and where the money could come from), and the Project Committee (which determines the projects, where they will be done and how they will be done).
The main committee meets once monthly and the sub committees meet as needed.
