Price City Police Department Press Release
On Saturday morning at 10:28 a.m., a male suspect robbed the Wells Fargo Spanish Fork branch.
Spanish Fork PD would issue a release indicating the unknown male presented a note with wording “this is a robbery provide me with $50’s and $100’s.” The word “gun” was also written on the note, although no gun was ever displayed. No one was injured, and the suspect fled on foot and it was not known if he got into a vehicle. A description of the suspect was provided along with surveillance photos. An undisclosed amount of cash was in fact taken.
This information was unknown to local law enforcement. During routine patrol at about 12:30 p.m., Price City Police Officer Drew Olsen observed two males in a vehicle with Colorado plates in the WalMart parking lot. The two males obviously and suspiciously attempted to avoid view of Officer Olson upon seeing his police cruiser. Officer Olson’s suspicions were aroused and he continued watching, and then followed the two men in the vehicle as they left WalMart, heading eastbound on Highway 6.
Officer Olson pulled the vehicle over in Wellington for an equipment violation.
Upon contact, the driver allegedly provided a false name to Officer Olson, who ultimately discovered his actual identity and learned he was driving on a revoked Colorado license. The passenger initially refused to give his name to Olson, but would finally share that information. Other units from Price and Wellington cities would provide backup for Olson. Olson also discovered an unusual and suspicious large amount of cash in the vehicle, and other forensic evidence which would allegedly ultimately link the suspects to the Spanish Fork robbery.
Meanwhile, “Attempt To Locate” information was being received by area law enforcement, and Olson became convinced the men were in fact the Spanish Fork bank robbery suspect and his previously unknown get-away driver accomplice.
The men were detained and Spanish Fork investigators came to Price PD to interview the suspects, recover the stolen cash and other forensic evidence, and arrest the suspects and take them back to Spanish Fork for processing. It is believed that nearly all the stolen money was recovered.
The suspect (the vehicle passenger) arrested for the actual bank robbery is Nicholas Russell Mobley, DOB 4-22-94, from Denver, Colorado. He was wearing the same clothing when picked up as when he allegedly committed the robbery. Mr. Mobley has several previous arrests in Colorado and allegedly told Spanish Fork investigators that he had been released from prison about one week earlier for an armed robbery in Colorado.
The suspect get-away driver is Gregorio Efrain Gomez Jr., DOB 2/12/92, from Grand Junction, Colorado. Mr. Gomez has several previous arrests from Colorado, most for theft, burglary or DUI.
At this time, it is not known what their connection to Spanish Fork is.
