USU Eastern, the Department of Workforce Services (DWS) and Carbon High School have partnered with community members and employers alike to once again host a career fair. It was recently announced that the Carbon Career Fair 2021 is in the planning stages following a successful fair in 2019.

This year’s fair will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 23 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Those organizing the event are asking members of the local business community to mark their calendars and complete a form to register and participate. It is widely acknowledged that there is a high demand for employees at this time and the fair aims to provide insight into local businesses.

“Our main goal with this career fair is to connect our students with a profession in the industry and get them excited about a potential career option,” career fair organizers shared. “During the sessions, we would like you to speak honestly with them about expectations in the workplace, skills necessary to successfully complete the job, education requirements and needed soft skills.”

It was also stated that the importance of taking advantage of high school coursework should also be emphasized, alongside developing employable skills with higher education, internships with onsite training or technical skill training.

Those that are considering participating in the career fair may find the registration form here. By completing the form, those that have signed up will be added to a list and kept informed about the steps that will follow. It is expected that about 1,000 students will be in attendance.

The Carbon Career Fair 2021 will include a short keynote speaker and three 30-minute sessions for students to rotate through following the speaker. The presentation for each session should be about 15 to 20 minutes long, leaving time for the students to complete a short evaluation and speak individually with each presenter if desired.

A swag bag is being prepared for each attendee and swag is encouraged for giveaway during the sessions. A drawing will be hosted for students at the end of the fair and door prize donations from local businesses and employees are welcome. The registration deadline is Nov. 18 and space is limited.
