A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Wednesday to dedicate a new stretch of road in east Price. Research Road is a vital link in the development and partnership efforts of Price City and USU Eastern.

The new roadway consists of two sections. Homestead Blvd. was extended to connect with Airport Road. Research Road connects the newer section of Homestead Blvd. and Cedar Hills Drive. There is approximately one mile of new roads within the city.

The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce held the ceremonial ribbon cutting. USU Eastern Chancellor Joe Peterson, Price City Mayor Joe Piccolo, State Representative Jerry Anderson, Developer Paul Washburn, Price City Public Works Director Gary Sonntag and Bob Henrie, who donated the land, were among the officials to take a few moments to speak. They spoke of the importance of the collaborative effort the road symbolizes for the future growth of the area.

“It is a awesome feeling as an engineer to see black pavement,” said Sonntag as he started the round of speeches. “It is a big deal to finish such an immense project and be standing here now.”
