Heavy runoff causing rising Colorado River water levels has nearly taken out fiber lines used to service Moab residents and businesses.

Emery Telcom employees moved quickly to adjust lines and equipment to help ensure Moab Internet customers would not experience outages.

Rising water levels reached several hundred yards beyond typical river flow. That put fiber lines as close as four feet from the top of the river.

Emery Telcom technicians Mike Barker and Troy Barker were able to install new anchors to temporarily fix the problem. A more permanent solution will be implemented once the water line recedes.
