UPDATE: Rollover Near Consumers Canyon Leaves Two Dead

A rollover on Highway 6 near Consumers Canyon left two dead and one injured on Friday afternoon. The accident occurred only a few minutes before 1 p.m.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a white 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix was driving west on SR-6 near mile post 235 when it crossed the center lane and went into two lanes of oncoming traffic. A Gray 2009 Toyota Tacoma was traveling east in lane two when the Pontiac struck it head on. The driver of the Pontiac was killed as was the passenger in the Tacoma. The driver of the Tacoma suffered moderate injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to Castleview Hospital. Both eastbound lanes on SR-6 were blocked for several hours during the investigation.  

The fatal female driver of the Pontiac was identified as Carolyn J. OHearon, 38, from Helper. The male driver of the Tacoma was identified as Jerry L. Oviatt, 62, from Huntington. The fatal female passenger in the Tacoma was identified as Charlene L. Oviatt, 61, of Huntington.
