Run, Climb and Splash With Desert Wave Pool’s Newest Addition

It only takes a team of Desert Wave Pool employees 30-45 minutes to set up the pool’s most recent attraction: the Wibit.

Though the name may sound unfamiliar and foreign to many, the approximately 56-foot long structure features various challenges in a fun-filled inflatable way.

“It’s kind of like an obstacle course where you can race with a friend,” explained Price City Facilities Manager Tamara Gray, who first heard of the structure from a variety of sources. After learning that her twin brother, who manages a pool in Park City, had a similar structure in his pool as well as hearing positive reviews from several employees who had used one in Gunnison at a swim camp, Gray decided to jump in with both feet and purchase one for use in Price.

The obstacle course features a starting base for the race to begin after which pool-goers are faced with a side-ways climbing wall, a pond they must cross, a cliff and a slide at the end, to name a few of the various structures.

“I’m hoping in the future to add a couple more pieces like it,” Gray explained.

For now, however, the new addition is open to the public after its official grand opening Monday evening. The Wibit may be rented out for private parties, which consists of a two-hour rental of the indoor pool and the Wibit structure and is good for up to 40 people, for $150. The Wibit will also be available this Friday as part of Price City’s TGIF series.

The structure will also be available every Monday night at the indoor pool from 4-8 p.m. with additional nights still being decided upon. Tickets go for $7 for anyone over the age of six who wishes to use the obstacle course and the ticket also includes entry into the outdoor wave pool.

Punch passes are also available with a 10 punch pass being priced at $55 and a 20 version costing $100.

However, for those who already own a current swimming pool pass, only a $3 charge will be needed to access the course. If wanted, interested persons are encouraged to contact the Desert Wave Pool for upgrading their current pass if they wish and also to find out more about new passes for six months to a year for adults, seniors, children and families.
