Ryan Macart Waives Preliminary Hearing in Child Sex Abuse Case

Ryan Macart appeared before Seventh District Court Judge George Harmond on Wednesday afternoon for a preliminary hearing regarding four first degree felony rape of a child charges and four first degree sodomy of a child charges. Macart, 20, waived the preliminary hearing and is scheduled for arraignment later this month.

Macart was booked into the Carbon County Jail on March 5 at approximately 4 p.m. for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. According to Price City Police Detective Ed Malmgren, Macart was helping facilitate a physical altercation between twelve and thirteen-year-old females.

The following day, Malmgren interviewed Macart regarding the contributing charge. During the interview, alleged confessions were obtained from Macart in relation to the aforementioned charges. The cases are connected to five victims, including one from Carbon County and four from Richfield.

According to Price City Police Captain Bill Barnes, Macart was booked in the Carbon County Jail on four counts of first degree felony rape of a child and four counts of first degree felony sodomy of a child.

Macart’s arraignment has been scheduled for April 21 at 9 a.m.
