Carbon County Sheriff’s Office Press Release

The Scofield Reservoir area is being threatened by the Coal Hollow Fire. This fire grew from 8,000 acres to 12,000 acres during the course of the day. Mandatory evacuations are being ordered and include North and West of Scofield Reservoir, including Aspen Cove. Other areas outside of the those subdivisions include Bear Canyon Road, Fish Creek, access roads from Soldier Summit (not including SR6) and SR96 from SR6.

Pre-evacuation notice is being issued for Madsen Bay, Scofield Mountain Homes, Scofield Mountain Estates and Scofield West. At this time, there is no immediate need to evacuate these areas.

These are preliminary orders and more may follow. The sheriff’s office will issue a map with certain evacuation perimeters as soon as one is made available. Please avoid the Scofield Reservoir area if possible.
More information will be available after a pending briefing.
