The Emery junior high rodeo team scored well at the rodeos on the first weekend in October despite muddy conditions. The unusual amount of rain in the preceding two days had left the Price arena a pool of water and, consequently, lots of mud. The show must go on and rodeo team members continued to score well.

On Friday, Oct. 5, the Emery team hosted the rodeo. In ribbon roping, Kinlie Jensen and partner Ty Fackrell finished sixth while Monty Christiansen and partner Lizzi Holyoak took eighth. Girls’ breakaway found Shaynee Fox in ninth. In girls’ goats, Graycee Mills finished fifth.

In the rough stock competition, Monty Christiansen was third in bulls. Coy Tuttle finished third in barebacks and Christiansen took fifth in saddle broncs.

The West Desert junior high team hosted the rodeo on Saturday, Oct. 6.  Race Gordon finished fifth in tie down roping and third in chute dogging. In girls’ goats, Graycee Mills tied for fifth and Shaynee Fox earned seventh. Mills was also third in girls’ breakaway.

The junior high team will now hit the practice pen for a while, awaiting the next rodeo early in 2019.
