“Eight-and-a-half hours, starting now!” was the call to begin the Sculpture Slap competition Saturday at the Helper Arts and Music Festival.

Sculptors planted themselves on Helper’s Main Street to show of their creativity and speed using various platforms and materials for their sculptures. Sculptors used every material from wood to clay to complete their projects.

A clay pop-art piece took home first prize. Clay baby limbs (left) won second prize. A driftwood horse earned third place.
