*UPDATE* Search and Rescue Crews Called to Search for Drowning Victim at Scofield

UPDATE

Carbon County Search and Rescue recovered the body of a man at approximately midnight Sunday morning from Scofield Reservoir.

According to Carbon County Sheriff’s Office Director of Emergency Management Jason Llewelyn, emergency crews were notified late Saturday evening that a canoe carrying three middle-aged males had capsized due to high winds. Two male subjects were able to swim to shore.The Carbon County Search and Rescue dive team was called to the scene and later located the body of the third individual.

“We had a lot of help from various agencies,” Llewelyn explained. “The state parks was a huge help allowing us to use their boat to get in the water quickly.”

Llewelyn confirmed that none of the men were wearing life jackets at the time of the incident.

Carbon County Search and Rescue was called to Scofield Reservoir to locate an alleged drowning victim Saturday evening.

Allegedly, dive teams have been called to the scene along with a boat equipped with sonar. The Carbon County Sheriff’s Office Mobile Command Center is staged at the reservoir while search efforts take place.
