The Green River baseball team will be returning five of their starters from last year, with only four seniors departing from last season.
“Each one of them have a large impact on our team by playing multiple positions,” said Head Coach Devan Meadows. Meadows will be coaching for his sixth year, with help of his assistant, Bryan Meadows, who has been coaching for five years with the team.
“We’re pretty dedicated to working with players on their individual needs and also try teaching them to see their value as players,” the coach stated.
When asked what the team has done during the offseason to improve, Coach Meadows responded, “a large number of our team was able to play in a local Babe Ruth League this summer, ending with the championship title which helped them work together and gain a stronger team connection.”
He then stated his expectations by saying, “Play as a team and just get better every game.”
Asking about some challenging opponents this season, Coach Meadows said, “with our small team, usually all teams are a challenge. But hopefully we come out with some good attitudes, play hard and just learn from every game.”
Coach Meadows ended the interview by stating what the values are for his team.
“I believe that self-confidence and positive attitudes are very important. If you’re having a bad game, get down and are in your head, everyone else feels it,” the coach said. “One mistake leads to another, but so does positive thinking and actions.”
