Representative Jerry Anderson and Senator David Hinkins took a few minutes to update the gathering at last Thursday’s Carbon County Chamber meeting on the past legislative session and some future issues that they will be facing during the next year.

Both expressed a support of overturning the Governor Gary Herbert’s veto of the constitutional carry bill. They also spoke of environmental issues that they feel impede businesses and rural development. Hinkins praised the success of USU Eastern and said he has become much more supportive of public education and transportation since he has taken office.

Danny and Patricia Blanton owners of Original Creations were honored as the business of the month. Original Creations boasts the “world’s largest collection of mining related sculptures” in a new 1400 square foot building.

Danny Blanton said that only about 1% of their business is to Utah. They have rapidly increased their reach and are now expanding into areas such as Africa, Chili, China and Australia.

While 80% of their statues are mining related, they have many works that include wildlife and dinosaurs among other subjects.
