Seventh Inning Rally Sparks Blowout Win for the Spartans, 15-5 *Photo Gallery*

The Spartans took down South Sevier 15-5 on Friday at Spanish Fork Complex after slamming them with eight runs in the seventh inning.

The Spartans scored in the seventh on a two-run error, a two-run single by Taylor Payne, an error and a three-run error.

Payne racked up five RBIs on four hits for the Spartans.

Ashton Bell got the win for the Spartans despite allowing five runs over seven innings. Bell struck out eight, walked five and gave up eight hits.

C Gaylord was the game’s losing pitcher. She allowed eight runs in 1 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out none.

The Spartans stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the second, scoring five runs on three singles.

The Spartans brought home one run in the fourth inning and matched that run total in the sixth. In the fourth, the Spartans scored on an RBI single by Payne, scoring Bell.

Three runs in the bottom of the sixth helped South Sevier close its deficit to 7-5. An RBI single by S Lingren, an RBI single by B Chisholm and a groundout by K Hunt sparked South Sevier’s rally. S Carter flew out to end the South Sevier threat.
