On Monday, May 8, Sherald’s Frosty Freeze held a fundraiser in an effort to help a Carbon County man, Scott Turner, pay for medical expenses. With the help of the community, Sherald’s was able to donate some of the proceeds that were made between 7 and 10 p.m. that night.
According to a GoFundMe account set up for Turner, on April 17, he was transported via life flight to Utah Valley Hospital after suffering a severe heart attack. While at the hospital, a cardiologist performed a cardiac catheterization that allowed them to asses the damage from the heart attack and then place a stent.
After a long hour wait for the catheterization to be finished, the cardiovascular surgeon told the family the procedure reviled significant damage from the heart attack and that stents would not be enough. A plan to perform a quadruple bypass was then put into place. This surgery went well and was a success.
Turner is now home and on the mend but is unable to return to work due to other health problems.
The family has been trying to sell a few personal things to help generate income, however, bills have been coming in much faster than the family anticipated.
To help Turner and his family during this difficult time, donations can be made here.
