The Region 15 golf tournament took place in Carbon County on Sept. 24. While there, the Emery Spartans played to their strengths and were able to secure six spots for state. Team member Oakley Toomer ended the year second overall in the region.
Toomer and Logan Healey were named to the Academic All Region team. Topping the individual scores was Shaidyn Killpack with 81. Trevin Wakefield followed close behind with 87. Taylor Lindsey scored 88, Toomer, 89, Devan Guymon, 99, Tayven Guymon, 107, and Healey, 108. Kavery Killpack rounded out the individual scores with 112.
Richfield and Grand led the overall scoring with 330 each. Emery placed fifth with 345.
The state tournament is slated to take place on Oct. 1 and 2 at Meadowbrook in Taylorsville. Tee time is set for 9 a.m. The six players from Emery that will be attending are Oakley Toomer, Shaidyn Killpack, Taylor Lindsey, Devan Guymon, Logan Healey and Trevin Wakefield.
