Slow First Quarter Dooms Lady Pirates

South Sevier outscored the Green River Lady Pirates 14-6 in the first quarter of their matchup Wednesday night in Green River. The Lady Rams won the game 59-41.

Green River responded in the second quarter, outscoring South Sevier 15-12 to only trail by five at the half.

Green River’s two leading scorers led the team in the loss to South Sevier. Maribel Escalante led all scorers in the game with 19 points, including a season-high tying five treys. Savannah Williams poured in 13. Presley Lovato chipped in seven points.

Green River (2-11, 0-0 Region 19) will begin region action Friday at Pinnacle (0-7, 0-0 Region 19). It will be part of a doubleheader with the boys. The girls will play at 7 p.m. and the boys at 5:30. Both games can be viewed live on ETV Channel 6.
