South Summit Smashes Emery

The South Summit Wildcats proved to be ungracious hosts Friday as they scored 28-straight points from the second through fourth quarter to dispatch the Emery Spartans 40-15.

The Spartans and Wildcats came into the contest tied in third place in the 2A North Region. The loss dropped the Spartans into a fourth-place tie with North Summit.

Dominic Rondinelli’s 85-yard kickoff return helped Emery close the gap to 12-9 at the end of the first quarter, but South Summit exploded in the second quarter and never looked back.

Cory Cox added a fourth-quarter touchdown for the Spartans.

The loss dropped Emery to 5-3 on the season and 3-3 in 2A North play.В  All three losses have come on the road.

Emery hosts North Summit on Friday at 7 p.m. in a game with huge playoff implications. The game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10.
