After many months of hard work and early morning practices throughout the summer and school year, the Emery High Spardettes took the floor at the State Drill Competition at UVU on Saturday.
Teams from 1A-3A competed in the competition.
The Spardettes competed in three different dances: military, dance, and character. In dance they tied Gunnison High school for sixth place and placed second in character.
Amanda Frandsen, one of the Spardette coaches said, “These girls have worked so hard and have all come so far. They mean a lot to me, and I do have to say that this team has been one of the funnest and easiest teams to work with. They were so willing all season to go do whatever was asked of them and do it with a smile on their faces.”
Rikelle Larsen, a senior member of the team, was named academic all-state and received a $200 scholarship. Larsen was also named all-state team dancer and placed second in the drill down.

The Spardettes next big event will be their spring show in which all of their dances with be showcased. Other dance companies will also be performing. Time and date have yet to be set.
